    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Development of features and functionality using the approved automation and CI/CD tooling
    • Recognise areas for improvement within the cloud platform around automation, CI/CD, and platform reliability.  Automate general operational tasks where possible (certificate renewals, patching agents, etc.)
    • Develop a strong culture of technical excellence and solid DevOps skills within the junior members of the team
    • Promote personal growth within the junior DevOps team members

    • Define and document the standards for others to follow when delivering automation and tooling changes
    • Create documentation for designs, as-built, and work instructions for repeated tasks

    • Manage the uptime of systems, and resolve outages

    • Define and support continuous delivery approach including tooling and automated testing and deployments
    • Management of all environments including maintaining an evergreen estate
    • Proactively manage environment costs to remain in budget and identify opportunities to reduce cost
    • Establish, implement and manage access controls for environments to keep the business safe
    • Identify and implement changes to improve quality, increase resilience and reduce downtime
    • Research, plan and implement relevant solutions in collaboration with operations, architecture and development teams
    • Actively communicate to ensure that you are and your team always delivering to the product owners requirements and any issues are raised
    • Join sprint planning and retrospectives, and prioritise and manage your work using planning tools e.g. Jira
    • Demonstrate functional improvements to stakeholders through show and tell demonstrations
    • Ensure core DevOps methodologies are implemented to highest standard across environments.
    • Ensuring your team members are actively upskilling and sharing knowledge with their team members so cover can be provided where appropriate
    • Coding for application integrations using APIs and related methods
    • Working in an agile way to deliver features quickly to meet our customer requirements
    • Troubleshoot issues raised by the operations support team and consumer teams
    • Ownership of incidents and alerts, chasing third-party suppliers and escalation where required
    • Support the Global CISO business engagement model via direct dialogue with specialist areas/individuals that support security control operation
    • Ability to manage own time and schedule to deliver the service
    • Ability to support out of hours on-call service
    • Analysis of management information and delivery of onward reporting
    • Apply and test any emergency security patches to the monitoring solution and/or dependencies in a timely and tested fashion
    • Optimize performance of the monitoring solution between major releases (evaluate ebs throughput, iops, changing data collection methods s3 to kinesis etc.)
    • Patch and maintain the underlying OS and application of the monitoring solution
    • Capacity planning
    • Keep the environments tidy removing unnecessary and unused code and components
    • Code integrations between applications using web service calls and APIs

    Skills & Experience Required:

    Essential Skills

    • Demonstrable proficiency in Puppet, Python, and related programming/scripting language e.g. Ruby, Go, Bash, PowerShell, Java
    • Demonstrable proficiency in coding to integrate applications using web service calls and API’s (REST, SOAP, etc)
    • Configuration and management of Puppet
    • Experience of agile ways of working and DevOps
    • DevOps technologies experiencing including HashiXorp Terraform, Vault, Packer, Puppet, Jenkins, BitBucket/github/TFS, Key management system, Foreman, Splunk, Artifactory, Powershell, Python, Bash, Ansible, CloudWatch, RDS, Postgress SQL, AWS CLI,
    • DevOps systems including JIRA, Confluence, Visual Studio, CI and CD pipeline, Scripting
    • Stakeholder management
    • Linux operating system (Red Hat 6.5 & above preferred)
    • Desire to lea
    • Proven relevant technical experience in related roles providing multi-tier technical support or software engineering
    • Experience with configuration management tooling knowledge e.g. Puppet, or Ansible
    • Capability to use infrastructure-as-code software e.g. Terraform
    • Experience with automated testing tools such as ServerSpec
    • Knowledge of Continuous Integration - Continuous Deployment pipelines e.g. Jenkins

    • Advanced Linux and/or Windows systems administration skills
    • Skilled with version control technologies e.g. Subversion or Git

    • Network Protocol knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, UDP, etc).
    • Familiar with the following Web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript & Simple XML
    • Familiar with security controls and issues
    • Architecture and delivery of Splunk solutions, or a strong knowledge of similar tools and a desire to cross-train into Splunk
