    Job Summary

     

    The Technical Writer is a critical role within Application Services that is responsible for driving clear communication of complex technical concepts and solutions as part of contract deliverables, white papers, and proposal responses.

     

    The Technical Writer’s audience includes inte
    al (WWT) and exte
    al clients, potential clients, and partners. The Technical Writer will work to attain a level of knowledge and understanding about the solutions that WWT develops and offers, which will allow them to create content such as articles, case studies, white papers, product or service descriptions, website and blog content, presentations, and other media as needed. This position also supports engineers and delivery teams by developing new documentation for contract deliverables and proposals. The Technical Writer may also be responsible for editing, posting, and updating existing content.

    The Technical Writer reports to a Software Engineering Manager in Application Services.

     

    Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions/Competencies

    • Create original content and/or compile and transition existing content for a variety of stakeholders and audiences across different types of media
    • Work directly with inte
      al and exte
      al technical subject matter experts to validate solution details for multiple technologies and coalesce the intended message
    • Observe and collaborate with end users/exte
      al customers to improve the quality of products, services, and documentation provided by delivery teams for existing solutions and processes

    ·       Lead the coordination of blending input from multiple contributors into a single document, report, or deliverable suitable for customer consumption

    • Work independently and autonomously to strategize, synthesize write, edit, and proofread content for past performance narratives, capabilities and services papers, white papers, case studies, and other solution studies
    • Ensure content adheres to defined scope, specifications, and context in accordance with customer expectations and that all content adheres to WWT’s standards for quality, graphics, format, and style
    • Conduct independent research and analysis on a technical subject to create technical documentation or other forms of communication
    • Prepare and edit ad-hoc technical documentation, including user manuals, training materials, installation guides, design documents, and reports
    • Develop or enhance standard documentation templates and processes
    • May work directly with exte
      al customers or as an embedded team member to provide them with documentation and support
    • Respond to requests from supported business units to author requests for proposal (RFP) responses, case studies, white papers, or other similar documents for new client acquisition, or to promote continued growth and retention of existing client relationships

     

    Qualifications

     

    Qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Exceptional interviewing, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
    • Experience delivering technical documentation (4-6 years)
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated creative problem solving/analytical skills and ability to prioritize work effectively in a deadline-driven and multi-project environment

    When This Role Is Done Well

    ·       Project documentation deliverables are centrally managed by the Technical Writer, are on-time, require minimal rework, and represent a quality product suitable for customer consumption

    ·       Collaboration exists between the Technical Writer and the delivery and sales teams

    ·       Documentation requiring content from multiple contributors is collaboratively assembled under the direction of the Technical Writer with appropriate deadlines established for content, is presented in a consistent format, and reads as one voice

    ·       Project documentation templates exist for common deliverables such as assessment reports and proposals

     

     

    Working Conditions (if needed)

    • Open office and/or virtual environment 
    • Occasional travel should be expected (10%)
    • Typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday
